What is this thing, a smart phone or a pad computing device?

Like all devices designed to be everything to everybody, the Streak misses the mark. This “pad” device doesn’t quite know what it’s supposed to be. It’s too big to be a smart phone and it’s too small to be a useful pad computing device. It’s hard to imagine what Dell was thinking here. Just about any reasonable Android smart phone will do exactly the same job with a screen of almost equal size.

The Standard is set.

There is no escaping the fact that Apple has set the standard in the pad computing category. For good or bad the iPad is the device that all other pads will be compared to — it’s the advantage of being first out of the gate. There are very few companies that have the design or engineering juice to beat Apple in a product category they created. Dell clearly has missed the mark with this one.
